【新聞稿】國際盛事「互聯網名人堂」頒獎典禮首次於亞洲舉行現在全球開始接受提名香港獲選為 2014年度主辦城市【香港，2013年10月16日】– 互聯網協會（Internet Society）剛宣佈2014年度「互聯網名人堂」現在開始全球公開接受提名，截至10月31日為止，香港獲選定為2014年度「互聯網名人堂」頒獎典禮的主辦城市，典禮將於2014年4月8日舉行，並將成為2014年4月7至20日香港國際IT匯的亮點之一。國際盛事「互聯網名人堂」現在已進入第三個年頭，旨在頌揚世界各地超卓的遠見者、創新者與領導者，表彰他們為全球開放互聯網的發展與進步所作出的重大貢獻。「互聯網名人堂」象徵著全球互聯網的活生生歷史，所有獲獎者也被載入這互聯網「史記」內 (http://www.internethalloffame.org/)。誠意邀請世界各地的組織和個人參與提名，提名表格可從「互聯網名人堂」網站下載：http://www.internethalloffame.org/nominations。被提名者將分為三個類別：先驅者：推動互聯網早期設計和發展的人士創新者：對技術、商業或政策發展做出重大貢獻，並幫助擴展互聯網覆蓋的人士全球連結者：在全球範圍內或特定區域或社區內為互聯網的發展、連結和使用作出重大貢獻的人士「如果沒有這些先驅者和遠見者艱苦經營，互聯網不會出現。」互聯網協會董事會主席Robert Hinden說道。「互聯網深深改變了全球生態及你我的生活，如果沒有這些前人的工作和努力，一切都將無從談起。這是確認他們貢獻的機會，是他們讓互聯網夢想成真。」互聯網協會主席兼總裁Lynn St. Amour稱：「香港一直被評為全球最具活力的國際城市之一，擁有高上網人口，將是明年頒獎典禮的理想舉辦城市。2014年度的盛事將與之前一樣，匯聚一些最偉大的思想家和協作者，鼓舞人心。」 2014年度「互聯網名人堂」頒獎典禮將成為2014年4月7至20日香港國際IT匯的亮點之一。這個國際盛事每年都在世界不同區域舉行，繼香港之後，2015年、2016年和2017年頒獎典禮將分別在拉丁美洲、非洲和北美舉行。有關2012年和2013年「互聯網名人堂」得獎者及其貢獻之詳情，請瀏覽：http://www.internethalloffame.org。您可以在Facebook和Twitter上關注「互聯網名人堂」： @Internet_HOF。

[新聞稿]香港互聯網協會就保護個人隱私與網絡自由的立場書（2013年6月18日）

[新聞稿] 2013年6月18日香港互聯網協會就保護個人隱私與網絡自由的立場書香港互聯網協會(ISOC-HK) 一直有留意斯諾登事件的發展，和美國政府涉嫌在互聯網上收集大量的用戶資料一事。本會極度關注美國政府以至其他任何政府對本國公民進行的此類行為，互聯網協會最近發表的聲明「有關網絡隱私的公開對話」說得好，這類行為的沖擊不僅影響美國用戶和公司，對全球互聯網用戶均影響深遠。[1] 互聯網是全球性的，香港亦是不可或缺的一部份。ISOC-HK 珍惜個人隱私和互聯網自由兩項基本價值，會毫不猶豫地捍衛它們。個人隱私不僅是香港人權法案，也是香港基本法下保護的一個基本人權。[2] 保護其公民的安全是每一個主權國家負有的首要責任，而保障個人隱私和言論自由也是一個可信賴的、有效的和強有力的政府的基石。這一代的網民重視網絡空間的完全自主權，正如在物理世界一般。[3] 我們明白安全和個人隱私之間是要有平衡的，但這個代價必須是讓公民有知情權的情況下，由公民衡量評估才付出的。正如互聯網協會上述聲明指出，真正的安全只能在更廣泛的信任和尊重基本權利之內實現。[4] 當政府在網絡空間執行不公正的收集、使用和披露個人資料時，它祇是鼓勵互聯網用戶不信任政府，並為自己構建更高的防禦力，使得政府的努力事倍功半，根本不可能達致一個雙贏的局面。 ISOC-HK 支持由政府和民間共同努力締造的網絡安全，而不是去犧牲互聯網用戶的隱私和自主權。我們相信，更好的網絡安全應該是讓網民有更大知情權，明白使用互聯網的風險，採用信息安全實踐和使用適當的技術來實現。互聯網是屬於每一個人，它的存在不祇是讓我們更有效地溝通，而是發展和改善我們的生活質素，要實現這個理想，有賴各方的衷誠合作，明確地具體地保障網絡隱私。互聯網安全和隱私工作組召集人宋德嘉 [1] Internet Society Global, Internet Society Statement on the Importance of Open Global Dialogue Regarding Online Privacy, 12 June 2013.
