Congratulation Wikimedia Hong Kong!

Internet Soceity Hong Kong will co-host the 9th Wikimania conference on August 7 – 11, 2013 @ Hong Kong Polytechnic University.Wikimania 2013 is an international meeting for the wiki community.It is an annual international conference for users of the wiki projects operated by the Wikimedia Foundation (such as Wikipedia and other sister projects). Topics of presentations and discussions include Wikimedia Foundation projects, other wikis, open source software, free knowledge and free content, and the different social and technical aspects which relate to these topics.

eVoting Security and Privacy? (May 19)

e-Voting was new to Hong Kong and most parts of the world. However, in 2011 and 2012, citizens of Hong Kong had tasted two e-votings (or e-pollings) to influence process of Chief Executive election. Security and privacy challenges did pose a vital impact to the e-votings. International ICT Expo 2012 – “IPv6 Keeps the Internet Growing” Seminar & Booth (April 13 – 16)

Image - HKPC_ipv6  Informative IPv6 Seminar took place on April 15 at the ICT Expo 2012. Mr. Sang Young took us through details of IPv4 and IPv6. Both the seminar and booth promotion ended with great success with over 130 people attended the Seminar and 5000 visited the booth.



IPv6 Certification and Training Program (May 7 – 8)

 

Image - IPv6 Full house attendance at the Second IPv6 Certification and Training Program in Hong Kong with great feedback. We have incoporated feedback from the previous training and enhanced the program. The program featured content of real-world IPv6 concepts, deployment techniques and enriched hands-on exercises for practical deployment.Hong Kong is now the top city in Asia who got the highest number of HE IPv6 Sages and the only city in Asia that has over 100 Sages. Hong Kong is now number 8 in the world. Keep it going Hong Kong!

政府業界攜手牽頭  IPv6 蓄勢待發 (資本壹週 )Apr 20, 2012- 保持在地區以至全球的競爭優勢,本港各界,從政府到小市民, 大企業到中小企,都應該立即了解相關的技術, 並就網絡的順利過渡作好準備。-「啟動 IPv6 計畫」旨在協助公眾及中小企更加了解 IPv4 地址耗盡的情況, 並提升他們對 IPv6 之認識。現時每個桌上及流動網絡裝置都是透過一個獨一無二的 IP 地址, 以存取網絡上的資訊。目前互聯網主要使用 IPv4 互聯網規約作為 IP 地址編制。然而,智能裝置的普及與流動上網的覆蓋增長, 均使互聯網的使用量與日俱增。由於 IPv4 僅能提供有限數量的互 聯網地址,根據號碼資源組織於 2011 年 2 月指出,全球最後一批 IPv4 地址已經被分配。換而言之, IPv4 地址已經正式耗盡。 Read More
